What do you guys think about master volumes twins? I found 2 or 3 Master volume twins with JBL's for a good price. I have heard some love hate relationships with these amps. I tried one out and thought it sounded really good but from a jerry tone perspective how are these? I am going to look more into them. I know some people were talking about certain transformers that were used in later years and that is what I am unsure of.

I also found a nice 1970 tiwn for $600. anything I should be aware of with either of these amps?

Thanks

Don't think a 70 Twin should be MV. Theoretically, crank the MV to 10 and it's virtually bypassed. Or you could hardwire a bypass and be set!

Purists don't like them but I think they are okay!

Yeah the one from 1970 doesn't have MV. The master volume amps I found with jbl's are from the mid 70's. I am a little skeptical of the master volume amps. I know they haven't been too popular but the one I played sounded good. I guess I am looking at a modding standpoint.

How much more would be required to get the desired tone with the mv amp than the regular 1970 non-mv?

Circuits were always changing so it's hard to say. Honestly ,if you like the way it sounds go for it, IMO!

Lots of great players used MV amps and sounded great!!!!!

If I were looking, might jump on that '70.
