Beautiful guitar, I think now I will insist on a PLEKED neck if I am spending over 3K on a guitar, or purchase one from a company/luthier with that connection or capability. Gibson USA is doing it on all their guitars now, as I am sure Fender custom shop is/will be soon too. Now there isn't a way to get a bad setup, or buzzy flat sounding $3-5K guitars, which should never happen but actually does often. I wonder if Alembic has a PLEK machine?

No offense, but what does this have to do with this thread? Just wondering. I'm sure alembic is detailed with their frets just like every other aspect of their guitars.

One Great thing about this site, is most people are laid back and if they don't like or understand what someone says, 99.9% see no need to embarrass or judge people with questions like you asked. They usually ignore it and move on. If you meant no offense you would have done that. Since you didn't I will answer your question:

Well, it looks like you took my question the wrong way despite my trying to ask it in a friendly nature. I was seriously wondering if there was a reason for you to doubt that their fretwork wasn't up to par.

I read it like it say's guess, " What does that have to do with the post?", I can see you meant it differently then, like," please explain, why would you say that? the Alembic guys are masters from what hear ". I said it because I can point you to a few guys here that have purchased hand made stuff from reputable guitar makers and they had to have their guitars totally reworked costing almost another $5-800 and each of them had them PLEK'd and they all are really happy now. I don't care if it was made by Leo Fender himself, I would want it PLEK'D just my preference, I just wonder if Alembic does that or not. But I don't really care anymore about the statement, Its water under the bridge bro. I am ALSO not saying other people in the world can't do a fine setup job, I just think this is a way to get a well done job no matter who the luthier on duty is that day , how he feels or if he is actually one of a handful interested in doing as precise a job as that machine. I don't think machines are needed for everything in the world, some things are worth the blood sweat and tears of another's hands, but this machine makes too much sense to me not to be preferred in my demands of a 5K and up guitar, even a $500 guitar I love most.

I was just responding because you were obviously offended. Like you said: "I don't think its totally pointless, just aimless gathering of thoughts. I had something in my mind that didn't come out right in writing." As far as pleking goes, it is not necessary if the luthier knows what he/she is doing imo. I wouldn't let that keep me from purchasing a high end instrument. I was also curious though if alembic used a pleking machine though. I've heard about fret issues from other builders as well but never from alembic, I was wondering if others had.

I'm no Alembic expert but I did own a Skylark before the whole Plek thing came around. It played wonderfully if the action was set high. Lots of buzzing if set low and the truss rod adjustments were not very effective. The neck was dead straight though and extremely stiff (it had hard rock maple and two purpleheart lams). The adjustable nut and tweakable bridge saved that guitar in my opinion. I might have looked into a Plek if I kept it to see if I could have lowered the action.

My buddy has one and when I played it it did seem small. I was expecting it to be more between strat and Les Paul size. He later made a Wolf from a template he got some someone and it was definitely bigger.
