[Imagined Days]

So I use Belden 9271 for all of my cabling. I have the OBEL and the direct out to the amp (via volume pedal). My cables are microphonic though! When you move them or step on them I get a static like sound from them. Any thoughts? Is it the shielding in the wire?

Sometimes the microphony comes not so much from the cable, but from the circuit having too high an impedance. Check all the connections and pot values. The cable in an OBEL setup using the 25k pot and the proper buffer should eliminate cable microphonics in even crappy cable.

Belden has been a great maker of cable for years, but it's a bit nostalgic to really want to stick with it because that's what the Dead used decades ago. Not necessarily a bad idea because it is good stuff, but I do find it pretty hard to beat the good Mogami and Canare stuff.
