How long of a cable can the GCX drive? Can you daisy chain 2 midi cables together?

We are thinking of some sidewash stuff and it's likely I'd benefit from a longer run...

I have mine hooked up with a 20ft. cable works great. Dunno about stringing together. A quick google turned up some 50ft MIDI cables will that work?
If I understand MIDI right the cable is just moving one's and zeros so the there is no cable impedance but there as always is an excellent chance that I don't understand it right.

Thanks, Capt. Yes it's essentially boolean or binary along with power but it's the distance that concerns me as there isn't much power behind it.

"Ohm's law states that the current through a conductor between two points is directly proportional to the potential difference or voltage across the two points, and inversely proportional to the resistance between them"

Cable length and distance are positively correlated to distance. Logic dictates at some point the length will be too long to power the pedal and receive signals.

50 foot between devices is the maximum recommended. 20 to 30 is better, depending on how many devices in the chain. Using S/FTP cabling, you may be able to go past 50', if you roll your own cables.

hmmm . . . I would think just the opposite - MIDI signals are really small files and just 0's and 1's I would think that as long as the 0's and 1's get sent through the line signal loss and noise etc don't matter since all that matters are the 0's and 1's kinda like a DAT tape vs cassette tape - if the magnetism of a cassette degrades you loose dynamics and signal to noise gets worse, if the same happens to a DAT tape then no problem, no loss until the 0's and 1's are totally gone. Maybe I'm missing something, I dunno.

What is being said is that while an audio signal gets weaker over long cabling the GCX will simply go from sending/receiving to no communication.

True, but I would think that the cable would have to be really long to totally loose all signal. I used to use a 100ft midi cable for my guitar synth to steal sounds off a keyboard players rack synth and never had any issues.

It doesn't have to lose all signal. It just has to degrade to the point where the 1's and 0's start getting confused.

Digital communication is very forgiving up until the point at which it starts to fail, at which point is goes real bad in a hurry.
