When it doesn't fit anywhere else

Here is a response I got to my resurrection strat I have on Craigslist.

Thats the same guitar that was at the amp stand its not worth 3,500
dollars thats crazy. I don't care how much you polished it. I have two
of these and they are $600. Give me your email and I
will send you pics.

SO then the guy emails me pics (which I deleted) and here is what went on after that.

I said:

Very impressed with your blurry photography. I have no idea what you
are trying to show me or what that guitar is or the specs etc. If you
think the price is too high don't buy it.

Jack

His response:
I am sorry, The guitar I am thinking about does not have a whammy bar. Sorry maybe
a whammy bar makes it worth 2000 more.

Why would someone take the time and effort to take a pic, save, and attach it to a mesage? Clowns.... That guitar is sweet especially the birds Eye Maple headstock. LOVE IT!

That must've been the same clown I gave a guitar lesson to years ago who came into my lesson room and said - "I want to learn how to play with one of them extortion pedals so I can sound just like Jimi Henderson" I'm sure did sound just like Jimi Henderson . . .

When I am ready to let it go for $600 you would be the first to know! (you may have to add a 0 at the end though)

I dont know what was on that guys mind or what he expected to get out of it. Even an american made regular stock fender strat sells at GC for $1500. The custom shop strats go for much much more. And this is way way nicer then any custom fender I have seen or played.

Some downright silly folks out there.

Sadly, this kind of thing happens all the time. Not just with guitars either, cars, houses, size doesn't matter. Everyone wants to get something on the cheap, but there are a lot of a-holes out there who can't handle it when they offer half (or less) of what something is worth and the seller says "no thank you". My other hobby is classic cars, and my LEAST favorite part of that hobby is buying and selling cars. At the moment, I have one classic, and I think I will keep it for the forseeable future, maybe until I am ready to move on from the hobby, just to avoid the crap associated with selling it and buying something else. I should probably sell my Schecter too, since I never play it and I could use some money to put toward a new guitar, but I am just not ready to deal with what you are going through. Good luck with your sale though!

+1 I have been looking for a VW bus lately, and it goes both ways, in this case alot of folks think its worth MORE than what it is. They will even get mad for asking what it is really worth. I have been a VW guy for 20 years and like guitar I know the market. I guess its a lesson in "heady values" we get used to dealing with each other in a way that displays grace and respect. Then you go out of the circle for guitars, gear and cars as it were, and you find...'some people have no clue!' My point being is that the market is driven by demand. The Res strat is worth every penny. 10 cents!

Jimi Henderson was the guitar player for Animal (drummer for the Muppets)

It totally goes both ways... one of my favorite threads on a motorycle forum I frequent is "who can find a worse CL for sale listing?"... guys are trying to sell stock 6 year old bikes for more than the same bike brand new! Or asking way too much for bikes that have been "customized" into hunks of garbage that I wouldn't ride without a tetanus shot and a death wish.

I sold my 1993 Springer in 2000. The stock motor was junk...top end 105 and hoping, and slow to get there (that was the only year of the "international" sprocket...61 teeth). So I replaced it with one of the first S&S complete engines, and what was not S&S was either Harley Davidson or Crane roller rockers, etc. Over $7200 just in the engine! The responses I got were as if I had murdered it, and I wound up selling it for $12,000, way less than I paid, not counting the improvements. And before anyone brings it up, I've been riding since 1975, only ever owned Harleys (1950 pan, 1941 knuckle, 1942 knuckle, 1953 K-model, 1960 pan, 1961 pan, 1948 flathead, 1977 Sportster, and 1993 Springer). I couldn't believe the comments..."why did you change the engine?" All they had to do was ride it!

I guess it takes all kinds!
