getting the news stuff back up on the frontpage is a little more complex and, unfortunately, I can't do it from my cubicle.

I like the old layout/color scheme better, but, "I will get by".....I'll still come to the site repeatedly each day. Thanks onece again for all the work ed and greg do....

The new format with the links is really trying to increase the new stuff, so that each time there's something new to look at. I too visit multiple times a day, and I get psyched to see that there is new info on the site. Hopefully, the links will just add to that.

I appreciate the feedback,

Gregg

do you mean more links to the most recently commented topics in the forum?
Yeah it seems the new layout shows more of them than usual. I could be wrong but I like to see more of them cause I usually only check what I see on the main page.

I did increase the number displayed on the front page from 5 to 10.

Actually, I initially thought it was broken then looked at it again and realized it was just overhauled. At first I didn't like it but now I dig it.

2 main reasons:
#1 the all black is a bit more taxing on the eyes
#2 If I take a mental break at work it is less obvios where I am poking around

I'm a really "I dont give a shit" kind of person when it comes to appearance. I'm wearing the same clothes I did yesterday, and I also slept in them. Hey, I like them, why not?

But to be honest, I thought the very first layout to the sight was the best. With the space and star images behind the Links section over on the left.

But again, I care not. As long as nothing gets taken off the site, I'm fine with it.

you're only on your second day of the same clothes? I have to tell people at work that I have multiple pairs of the same pants just so they think I change them.

The Black background is very obvious at work, and I do think its hard on the eyes, I just guessed at these colors, perhaps the are a little to "soft" or too pastel-ly.

I have to admit I liked the star background too. That kinda offset the blackness of it all.

Maybe we need a 9-5 cover and an after hours cover, or a button that quickly switches to corporate look when wandering eyes enter your cube.

But, I do think that a light background is easier on the eyes...

I like the new look. Much cleaner and less "90s" look to it.

I also like having more "recent posts" listed. I suppose that's a popular feature.

And I'm also a fan of the digg-style, user-submitted stories. I know Gregg is pretty much the only guy running things, so it's better to have more eyeballs scanning stories than just one set.

My .02 cents.

just a thought... maybe the "grateful dead tabs" link should be bigger or have a spot on the main page

right now its just kinda off to the site really small in a big list and people new to the site might not see it

I originally took it (the grateful dead tabs link) off the main page so that I could make more room for increasing the amount of visible forum topics. In all honestly, I never knew if people actually scrolled down on the page, so, i thought in terms of organization, it'd just be easier to have on the left. But, I will try to get it all on there.

Just a question, my stats say the following regarding screen resolution:

1024x768: 36.34%
1680x1050: 20.01%
1280x854: 18.05%
1440x900: 15.87%
1280x1024: 5.39%
1280x800: 4.15%

Is anyone using a resolution lower than this, or are these percentages reasonable?

funny you mention the corporate look, this is almost the exact same color scheme that the CRM program i use at work has, except this is a bit more purple than blue.

winston wrote:My only complaint has been that when you load the forums, the ones I want are on the bottom (Think Tank, Submissions, etc.), and it takes a long time to load because of all the songs. With the recent comments on the front page, Think Tank is almost always available, but not Submissions. Might it be possible to change the order in which the categories are displayed?
I sorta agree with this and it's been a long standing issue I've had with the forums. Since each song has its own forum, there are _a lot_ of forums. It would be cool if we could sortof squash all of the song forums into one folder--Songs or something. And then from that Songs folder have separate sub-folders for each song. That way, when you go to the Forum Index page, you wouldn't have this huge list of topics.

But maybe that's just me.

ive got one more question- would it be possible to have the return to rukind.org link send you back home in that page instead of opening another? Im always hitting it to check back with the recent posts and have to close the previous page
