Not being an electronics whiz, I need something straightforward to install. I can solder, swap pickups, caps, etc..., but some of these schematics make my head spin. Whats the best way to go about doing this?

our "in-house" tech Waldo will get you the buffer, and there are a few luthiers and tech savy folks here for your build. I suggest searching older posts and making an educated guess as to who will help you. Everything you want is here, you just have to read up on it! Good luck.

Other than the buffer and the 9v battery, all you need is two tip-ring-sleeve(TRS) 1/4" jacks, a 25k pot, and a mini DPDT switch (if you want to be able to bypass the loop). And room to fit all that. What guitar are you doing this to?

I just got finished doing my loop on my guitar, without the buffer, but it was easy. If you look at the post about OBEL I asked the same question about 2 weeks ago on here. Waldo made it as clear as it could be with the drawing. The buffer is in and out so it can't be that bad. I was at the same place as you, and made myself visualize the deal a few days prior by looking at what Waldo sent me. It was as easy as taking the signal going to the volume pot and then going to the switch, then back to the tone pot. Depending on how your guitar is wired you may only go back to the vol pot.
