When it doesn't fit anywhere else

huh?

I dislike any LA or NY sports team. except for the hockey clubs - not a hockey town here. too much back and forth with no outcome. i feel cheated every time i watch a game.

As a lifelong Orioles fan I would join the "hate the Yankees" group. Though I've always had a soft spot for Mickey Mantle. I used to be a Lakers fan as a kid back when Kareem was on the team but the NBA has gotten pretty boring and I don't pay attention much and have very little respect for Kobe. I know a guy who just wrote a biography of Jerry West - haven't read it but he's a prof here at VT and his son plays music - they opened for us recently.

i forgot to put Boston into the equation - being a native Clevelander i was happy to see the Red Sox go on that phenomenal run to the W.S. - and then finally win too. might have been the best sports television I've ever seen. that being said i root against all Boston teams unless they are playing against NY or LA, but i don't hate Boston teams in the same way as the other 2 markets.

well, i kinda hate the patriots, but not as much as the cowboys

LeBron and the Cavs will have their way with the Celtics this year - they've grown too old and Sheed's a disaster. :|

My wife is a life-long Sox fan - she grew up in Lynchburg, VA where the Single-A team was. Her family was good friends with Buddy Bailey who managed there and made it up to AAA Pawtucket (I think he won minor league manager of the year there). I am an Os fan so we try to make it to a Sox/Os game every year. We made a bet in 2004 that if the Sox won the World Series that we would get married. You know how that turned out - probably the only time I have ever really rooted for the Sox  We might never agree on a favorite team but we sure are in agreement on our least favorite.

Here's a pic I took at Spring Training in 2004:

Manny Ramirez tried (unsuccessfully) to pick up my wife at this game :P

Here's another I took at Fenway last year when we were up for the Worcester Dead shows:

Awesome! one of these days i got to get to fenway and catch a sox game. I'm a huge fan of vintage baseball - yankees and sox. I can look at old images and read sports stories from the past all day long. :D

man of the hour though:

Me too - I love the game today but there was something about the good ole days of the national pastime. My deadhead buddies and I started a stratomatic baseball league back in the 80s - all the teams we were named from towns we had seen the Dead in - mostly an excuse to waste an afternoon talk some baseball and :D - thanks to Facebook we just reassembled the league and are going to play again.
