Not sure if feedback is even the appropriate term, but I've been having some reverb challenges lately with my rig. I'm using a Line 6 X3 Live for effects (no amp modeling), Trio, Valverb, and Mosvalve. These all head into a 2x12 HT style cabinet. The Trio preamp out goes into the Valverb, which goes to the speaker cab - not using the Trio's effects loop.

If I dial up the wet / dry mix on the Valverb with any kind of volume, I'm getting a huge amount of low frequency feedback / resonance. The kind that starts low and then keeps building in volume - only way to stop it is to cut the volume or reverb mix on the Valverb - or turn down the power amp. Cutting the signal anywhere before this in the chain won't stop the feedback.

I never recall this being an issue at home, only in our reheasal space, which has a tile floor and a good deal of glass. The cab is a partial open back.

Could this be the room or placement of the cab? Or do I possibly have an issue with the Valverb?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I ran the Trio and Valverb, I put the reverb in the Trio's effects loop, set full wet on the Trio and adjusted the mix on the Valverb to taste. I had no problems that way. If you don't want to use the effects loop, you could try going into the reverb before the Trio. I would also read the Valverb's manual, because, as I recall, there is a difference between the inputs for levels, one is hotter. Also keep in mind that it would be good to experiment with the input and output levels on the Valverb, you might be overdriving the front end of it.

I will definitely try the effects loop again - it's worked for me before, but I think has a bit more noise that way. If it fixes this, however, it would be worth it.

IIRC the front input is instrument leve (-20db) while the back input is line or pro level (-10/+4db).

If you are sending a mismatched signal than expected you won't really notice it until you really crank it up!
