Why is there no Mickey or Billy in Furthur??? Long time Dead fan but just recently started to read "Long Strange Trip" for those that don't want a plot spoiler I am the part where they fired PigPen and Weir!!!!WTF I guess I just always thought/wanted the dead members to be all great lifelong friends and I guess they are just subject to the same crap everyone else is. Does Bobby and Phil just think Mickey and Billy are jerks now or something?

Not sure about Mickey, But Billy said he got bored towards the end of the Dead tour. He wanted to pley with his trio.

Nobody knows for sure except Bobby and Phil. My guess after seeing them is that they wanted more of a Ratdog/Phil&Friends sound including new arrangements to some tunes, so they picked drummers who were more used to the new direction as well as more excited to be there. I think they may also have wanted to avoid the criticism that they were "replacing Jerry" as much as possible.

But it's all rumors and speculation at this point. Nobody really knows for sure.
