Caught MoonAlice last night hear in Portland.
Plenty of Barry Sless guitar solo's to take in and study on the fly... 'Came away with a few new stylistic playing ideas to run up the flagpole.
Pete Sears is a tremendous Bass player, and he and Barry and Molo really got it out there at times.
McNaMee does a good job of playing a basic rhythm guitar behind these guys (he played Bass too, so did Barry on some songs), he and Sears sang all the songs.
But Sears really shines in this group as a singer, multi-instrumentalist, and overall living psychedelic inspiration.
One thing I hadn't noticed before is Barry's cab is a closed-back cab.
I also picked up Pete Sears "Learn Piano The Smart Way" book with 3-hour DVD (I picked up a Hammond L-142 at a rummage sale, and my daughter and I are both aspiring organists now, too).
Anyway, a good show and a good time.
Someone handed me a "Kingfish" handbill for a date in March... I need to follow up on that.

They are one of 2 bands touring today that I am desperately looking to catch! The other is The Radiators.

No JC, No GE, No opening band, I was just there to see the show... Got to hang out and catch up with some of the GBB in attendance though (SG,TK,AS).
Got a Barry Sless autograph on a poster.

They had several good long jams...
One (with Sears on Bass) was a spin on the ol' Aeolian Am>F jam (similar to Watchtower, outro of Stairway to Heaven, Crazy On You by Heart, etc...). In this case they did 8 beats of Am then 8 beats of F.
Another one (with Sears on Keys) was like a combo of the intro from Do It Again (Steey Dan) and Riders On The Storm (Doors). Very cool.
