Wazz up family. Ok so I received my Mc2100 yesterday and I'm ready to wire it up and start playing. Now at the same time aquired a TC Electronics G-Major and for some reason I'm unable to get any sound out of the G-major. My rig chain is as follows.... Guitar>Loop-master Tru Bypass 8 chan effects loop > SF Twin. Granted each of the 8 loops has a pedal assigned to it but essentially it's guitar to the loop-master and then right to the amp when I have all effects bypassed.

Right now I have my G-Major hooked up to one of the loops becuase my amp dosen't have an effects loop on it, plus this way I can cut the signal and play nice and clean when I want to. My problem lies when I activate the loop with the gmajor...I get no sound. I'm new to the world of rack based effects but feel I can understand and learn as play with the gear... but this time I seem to be having the most difficult time. Is there something in the setting on the gmajor that's giving me no sound?

I've read that this unit likes to be placed after a preamp and then into the power amp. Now since I have the Mc2100 is that considered a preamp or power amp my guess is a power amp? What is my SF Twin considered, the preamp? Can someone clarify this for me and maybe give me a run down of how to wire my rig?

My thoughs on wiring is as follows. Guitar > Loop-master 8 chan efx loop > Mc2100 > Gmajor > Into Twin Revb. Does this look right? Thanks so much for any help.

I dont think you can run a solid state amp into a twin - im not sure if it would blow it or what, but I can't believe it would be good.


Do you have a line out or preamp out from your twin? Do you have a OBEL?

Thanks for the reply. After reading my post I did notice i mixed up what the order should be. I'm basicly using my Twin as the preamp and the Mac as the power amp out right? That sounds right. So you think I should take the g-major out of one of the loops on the loopmaster and acutlly run my signal thru the gmajor right out of the loopmaster output and then into the twin? I guess that makes sence b/c the gmajor is tru bypass anyway and shouldn't color my tone.

I don't recall if I have a preamp out from my twin...I'll have to look when I get home. I don't have an OBEL yet but that's in the works. My Carvin DC400A is at the shop right now getting routed for the 3rd pick up (middle super II) and 5 way pick up selector. Man I sure hope my rambling makes some sort of logical sense. If you are using the twin as a preamp, what output are you using into the mc2100? You need to have a line out or a preamp out on the twin, otherwise you would be sending a powered signal into the mc2100 poweramp - which will be WAAAAYY to hot of a signal.

Well I think I may have to do the twin preamp mod to make this work the way I want it to huh! Dang my quest for this tone?

Make sure your SF twin is modified for the pre amp out to the Mac. You have to pull all four 6L6 power tubes from the twin before you hook this up or else!!!

Thanks bpg. So let me ask you this. If I pull all four of the power amp tubes from my twin this will essentually turm my twin into a preamp right? However I'll still need a preamp output jack added in order to utilize the Mc2100 also.

The good news is I have't even tried hooking it up yet. Thanks God! Based on what I learned today I would have been in some serious trouble. Man I love this site. My plan all along was to have it tuned and cleaned up first befor introducing it to it's new home.

Pulling the power tubes doesn't turn it in to a preamp, but it is a necessary step when using it as a preamp only, to keep the transformer from frying with no load. You could leave them in if you had a speaker or dummy load connected, but there's no point or benefit because you're not using the power section of the amp.
Yes, you need to have a preamp out added to to the twin to use the mac as your power amp. You run the pre-out signal into the mac and out to your speakers. It can be added to either the vibrato channel, the normal channel or you can do both. Presumably you want to use the reverb, so I would just do it for the vibrato channel. The pre-out is a simple mod for someone who knows what they're doing. There is info here on how to do it, but unless you're comfortable removing the chassis, draining the caps so you don't get electrocuted, reading the schematic to locate the tap point(s), posssibly drilling holes, and soldering, I would reccomend letting an experienced tech do it. Hope this helps.
