My friend Ben Molnar (lead singer in this pic) just sent me this picture of our high school band "The Highland Band".
Cool! I haven't seen this pic in years... probably '79/'80 (11th grade), at the local community center.
I had been playing Pedal Steel for about a year or so by this time I think.

We were probably playing Fire On The Mountain by Marshall Tucker Band in this pic.
The Pedal Steel on this tune (intro/solo) was one of the recordings that got me hooked on Steel.

[edit] I remember later in the evening we brought the house down with "Take It Easy" by The Eagles (we also played Peaceful Easy Feeling that night).
We played some "CDB" and alot of Dead, too.

Any recordings from back then? I was a big time mark for that late 70's southern Boogie rock. Loved the CDB and marshall tucker. I even had shakedown covering Trudy at one point!

I actually had a pre-walkman Radio Shack cassette recorder, but it got ripped off at a basement jam/kegger at the drummers house (where we jammed every day after school, mostly for our GF's), by one of the 12th graders, I suspect (those bas'tids).
I'll have to contact the drummer to see if we have any audio.
We did Trudy also, and we were big fans of jamming on the song Funky Junky! (we hadn't heard "LaGrange" yet), we also did Souths Gonna Do It Again (of course, we were from central Jersey).

Hah! I tried so hard to get my band to cover Trudy, but they wouldn't go near it!! I'm still working on them going for "Gimme Three Steps" and I'm getting closer...still love that southern boogie...
