This was my first electric so it's sentimental and I'd like to use it more. The pups were weak so I didn't play it out often.
I went ahead with this and just got the guitar back. I decided on a black pickguard with Fralin Vintage Hots and the Blender Pot.
I did have two problems.
One was the bridge pickup was angled opposite of a normal strat. I expected the cavity would be fully routed out so you could add humbuckers. This is the "Gypsy" or "Voo-Doo" set up for a Hendrix tone on the bridge pup...the pup is closer to the bridge for the low strings and farther from the bridge for the high strings. They say you get a tighter bottom end and mellower high end.
The other problem was the cut in the pickguard where it wraps around the bridge was not wide enough.
Both were easy fixes for my local luthier.

Here's a gut shot of the new electronics,

And here's the old electronics.

It sounds great. I'm liking the blender....at first I liked the bridge with some neck added in...now I'm liking the neck with some bridge bite. Even with the Blender at 5, the neck and bridge have a different tone.
I think I can run all three pickups as well but haven't tried to dial that in yet...the bridge and neck blending is pretty nice.
This is my new "Go To"...... I'm gonna be playing it for a while.
