I got a new guitar (Vantage VS695). I want to customize it a little, not jerrify it though - some time in the next year my bands gonna stop covering and stick to originals so yea.

I've been on he CAE sound website http://www.caesound.com/cae_prod_new.html looking at all the buffers, and I just don't know what to pick.

I'm tied between:
Waldo's Tiger Buffer
Jangletone II
CB1
CB2

I want do want some gain but on the website it says the Jangletone II doesn't add gain, Maybe I read it wrong.

Can I have some help?

No. It has to do w/ what you asked. Why not go w/ the home team. I'd say, even at your young age, you probably have more in common w/ the folks who hang here. So why not support that?

Unity gain buffers don't add gain. That's what unity means in a sense. The signal is kept at an even 1:1 throughout the chain. Waldo says his buffers are just a shade below unity, but it's nominal and not that big of a deal. The point of the buffer is to keep the signal even. All of the ones you named will do that. So unless you have the resources to buy them all and taste test them in a critical light, you should probably just pick one and go w/ it. That brings us back to the front end of this post, no?

If you are going to buy a buffer I would highly recommend you buy Waldo's buffer and be done with it.It is as good or better than anything out there, it is priced lower than its direct comparisons and you can get support right from the builder. I am proud to say that I was one of his first testers, he sent me a buffer well over 2 years ago that I a/b/c 'd with a CB-1 and a CB-2 and while there is absolutely nothing wrong with the cb-1 (the cb-2 is another story, that buffer flips the phase, you want to get an earful try engaging Kimock on that topic! ), I just preferred Waldos (although I had to make room for it! it is bigger than a CB-1 by a bit). I just found it a little more focused.

It is win-win-win for everyone, you get a top shelf buffer for a lower price while supporting someone who has shared so much with this community. No Brainer in my book.
