Tom wouldnt itbe cool to do a Jack Casady bass -a tribute to Jack -inspiried by what the Guild starfire transitioned into and now Jack playing his Epiphone series --what I wouild like to see would be an instrument -essiantially a Guild Starfire bass in long scale 24 frets -ebony board abalone block /trapozoid-/the pattern in his Epiphone bass series -a semi-acoustic body mahogany ply with either a figured mahogany or a really fat highly flamed maple top-the mahogany axe in an oil/poly urethane finish --the glassadore stuff ----the flamed maple in a translucent stain color of choice---my choice for Jack would be a SUNBURST---a good tailpiece and variable 4-way adj bridge with tremelo bar -and a set 2-way adjustable brass nut ---all hardware gold plated -triple plate ---of course the best tuners -only Schallers -only-and of course the pickups -DARK STARS ----2 total supershielded sngle coils with extra magnet -the neo mags of course -------vol -tone per pu ----pu selector sw---1 off 2bass 3 both 4 treble-plus a selector switch for mono pos 1 -------pos 2 discreet stereo ---a stereo cord to splitter box as well as a short stereo y cord to fit wireless emmitter--thats what I wouldda done did ,kinda sorta --For Jack and everybody elsethat loves the fat tones of the Guild Starfire Bass ---man I do ! -----------What Berry White does to women ---thats the what the Guild bass had goin in its sound -----well its worth it -so somebody --yep -----BIRTH it-----second coming of Jack --the MAN! phil

Not quite to your specs, but I recently finished my version of a tribute to Casady's Starfire Bass. It started with a DeArmond SF bass (I don't have the cash to buy a Guild and cut into it..) I added a set of Fred Hammon's Dark Star Pickups and then, I talked to Rick Turner. After a few emails I ended up getting a D-TAR Eclipse dual buffer/ mixer preamp and sending it to him to harness for my project. when I got it back, I added a few things namely a Bartolini EZQ Low pass fliter for each pickup. The end result is tremendous. I have a filter freq, variable q, and passive treble rollof for each pickup, a blend and a master Vol. 8 Knobs! (not quite the Godfather, but...) I even found the same kind of top hat and pointer knobs Alembic uses. All of that is hooked up to a dual battery box. I kept the DeArmond Bridge in the end. Mostly because Jack kept the Guild bridge on his, and I like the harp shape.
