Meaning when you drop from series dual coil to single coil there is a noticable lower output. or it gets quieter.

It should maintain consistency to a certain extent. You have 6db of boost so it should be adequate.

Chris, that doesn't make sense to me for the problem Mike's talking about...

If you guys are talking about the Ibanez active EQ boost, it will not compensate for the switch between single-coil cut and HB series/parallel. The output from the single coil is still considerably less than the HB, boost or no boost, right? Any boost, if left on, would be the same; you're boosting both the single coil and the HB outputs, so they keep their different output levels. Same with any sort of UGB - lowering he impedance will "strengthen" the signal over long cable runs and effects and the like, but it would still be applied equally to single or HB if left on all the time. I'm no electronics genius or anything, but it seem only logical that applied equally to both pup configurations, the effect would be on the given output of the pup in whatever setting it is currently switched to, right?

Mike, using a clean boost that you have to switch on when using single coil sounds like the way to go. If you had the extra Ibanez circuit put in a box, you'd have all the eq parameters to mess around with as well as the boost; sounds like a pretty cool concept, but bear in mind that it would color the sound as opposed to something like the Serrano Picoso that Strummin' uses...

I think I would use the BBE Boosta Grande for clean boost and AR500 for tweaking highs/mids/lows. I understand that I would need to engage the boost when switching from HB to single coil. Realistically, for Weir, I would probably only be playing single coil. For non-Weir, then the HB/single switching will come into play.

mk, your cowboy you had. when you switched between humbucker, single coil a tri. What differences did you notice. There's not a big difference in my AR.

Large difference in my AR. With the Cowboy, I don't think it was as much, however, the trim pots on the back side of the Cowboy may have been set to compensate for the difference.
