As in 'you thought you were the cool fool..." ya know.

We went through a bunch and man a bunch of them were already taken. I did a pretty decent search and couldn't find this reference as a band name although when I just made up a page at myspace for the band I had to add 'band' after 'cool fools' cause these 2 teen girls had 'coolfools' lol! I didn't get the sense that they were a dead cover band -tehe.

Here's the page - bare bones at the moment

http://www.myspace.com/coolfoolsband

Will be dressing it up shortly.

I'll repeat this later but as of now our 1st gig is at The Rye Roadhouse in Rye NY on 11/6

http://theryeroadhouse.com/

Friday night 11:00 to 2am - I'll be drinkin some coffee that night!

Other board members here in the band (as noted before) hgregs and mkaufman

Thanks gt, should be fun. Been a while.

I actually thought about that - is there a distance away from you that it'd be ok? lol!

Chuckles wrote:"Cool Fools": like it!

Also like the jester holding the huge bud!
I Searched around and found a bunch of jesters - I couldn't copy my favorite one - it's for sale though - I may inquire about it. A real psychedelic looking jester guy dancing with really bright colors.

Yea pat that's not typical, though i don't think it's overbearing. I sure didn't remember dialing it in that way during that practice and I didn't remember it sounding like that. We played Eyes into Scarlet that day and I really only had some slight OD going on I suppose. You can really hear it more in the bass notes. So no, not normal for me - though it is kinda interesting if there's just a touch.

I don't know OMD - though a friend suggested, albeit kinda after the fact, to use Cool FoolZ with the z instead of the s.

Thanks, I kinda like it as it evokes sorta that we're not taking ourselves TOO seriously with this. Though of course putting out the best effort possible IS a serious thing though in the grand scheme of things it's just a band playing music they have a passion for. Hopefully we'll do it well enough that people will want to listen! 8)

Or to borrow from the title of the anime classic: FLCL ("Fooly Cooly")

I can't get over the number of Dead cover bands going around in the States. I'm gonna check some of you guys out when my wife and I go to the over for a holiday in the second half of next year. Has anyone considered "The Ungrateful Dead" or is that a bit too disrespectful.

Billbbill -

For sure congrats on getting a name. T Jedi hit it man, so many are taken. We went through literally 20 or more. My wife and I tried one night with a song book in hand. So many phrases/wordings are taken.

A major score to get something unique!

Best of luck with your band.

I guess it's the free market at work - evidently there's demand to be met - though it's all relative I suppose. I like Harvestwind! That'd be a cool name! I think I might have actually thought about that one :P - probably taken anyway :-x

Thanks a bunch Dave!

You ain't kiddin - I went through the whole annotated GD lyrics book - all 500+ pages - I have to admit I skipped over some of the lesser known tunes - and this was actually my third pick tho it was the winner in the group vote. My # 2 was one of our bass players picks - Learning To See - and my #1 was one of mine - Blind Man's Hand. But Cool Fools it is!
