The Grateful Dead hit the stage at Woodstock on 8/16/69. The band was not too pleased with their performance at Woodstock, stating that there were many technical difficulties and they were getting electrical shocks on the guitars and bass. I have given the set a listen and sounds like the boys are being a bit harsh on themselves; it's not a bad performance... perhaps not their absolute best, but it's still some good listenin. I remember seeing an interview with Garcia talking about their set at Woodstock, and he mentioned something about their set being sandwiched between The Who, in which Pete Townshend smashed his guitar over some guy's head, and Jimi Hendrix (which was absolutely classic Woodstock). So, being sandwiched between two such memorable performances probably made the boys in the Dead feel that they could have delivered a more solid and memorable performance themselves.
