You are almost there. I really think that you are confusing a minor pentatonic and a blues scale. Although very very similar a blues scale as an extra note. (flat 5)

If you add 2 notes to the E minor pentatonic then it would be the same notes as a G Major scale.

Take a careful look at the post above where I used colors. I think it should make sense. If it doesnt then actually write it out and you'll see.

I think I know how to show it a bit more clearly. Play both of these. The red dots are the root. Notice that there is one more note in the blues scale. You have to remove that note (flat 5) then you can add your two notes to make a major scale.

Yea that's what I was thinking! I got the E minor penta scale mixed with the blues.. my bad so yea that's what I meant, sorry or the stupidity .

I might be confused (always a possibility), or picking a nit, but if you are playing an E minor pentatonic scale:

E G A B D E

And you add the C and the F#:

E F# G A B C D E

I believe what you get is an E Aeolian SCALE, which uses the same notes as the KEY of G major.
