how do i put up mp3s so you can hear my band?

Not very tech savvy here, but got some mp3 recordings of the band id been putting together. some have a drummer but most dont. him and the keys flew the coup for a reggae band. we got a better keys guy now anyway, but finding the right drummer has proven quite difficult. In this band i do all the Bob stuff. I am also currently in another band doing all the jerry, bob and jgb tunes.

so i imagine i need to upload the mp3s to a site and then post the link. can somoen just gimmie a short explanation? thanks you guys!

You just need somewhere to host it and then link to it. TS's suggestion would do. I'm about to look into the archive - the 'open source audio' portion.

I use Mediafire to host all the MP3s I upload. It's free (for files under 100mb and a certain upload limit per month) and easy to use.

ya, cryspace - bleh. that would mean id have to check it every day, add friends, reply to their messages, read their stupid blogs, create a background, upload pics, join groups, yadda yadaa.

im uploading the mp3s on archive as i type, that seems to be the best way. the myspaces of the world will have to wait till we find a permanent drummer, it is proving to be quite difficult to find anybody that can handle the load, let alone anyone that knows the material. all the drummers we met that actually could play the stuff and knew it were quite content playing in their classic rock cover bands and none of them really believed this could be done.

I am however involved in a gigging tribute to The Clash, another band i have a passion for. not for their playing ability obviously, but the songwriting ---woooo off the charts.

wow, taking a long time to upload. files are large though....waiting ...waiting.....

now its been 15 minutes wth....

alright ill leave it go for awhile longer, ill be back and post another topic with the link.

I am wanting to do this also and am curious about who or what hosts the information.
If you use myspace like TS recommends do you have to give permission to everyone who wants to listen?

how much of your personal information is required and how much is your privacy invaded. Or is it like here where you can get personal if you want

How is Media fire Rusty the Scoob?

I like it. The interface is easy, no adds to deal with. It's pretty bare bones, which is a good thing to me since I don't have a ton of time or patience. It won't stream or do anything fancy, it's just a place where people can download whatever you put up. I first used it when I wanted to send huge photoshop files to my dad.

As an example, here's something I put up just for the band to hear... set 1 of a recent show where I'm not happy with the mix and I didn't get set 2. But it'll help you get a feel for the site http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=c5a7 ... cbef927fdf

Contrast that against Archive.org - I use that as well but only for recordings that I want to have permanently available to the public.

This is soooooo WRONG... bass ackwards!!!

You are far better off putting stuff up on Myspace and garnering interest there... then once you have an established band, go the archive.org route.

People are far more likely to find you on MySpace... it's geared up for this... Archive is a great repository for "live shows". Every band that I have grabbed outside of ones that have been immediately recognizable, I have found out about thru MySpace.

no, no i understand why myspace is a great medium for networking. I had a myspace about 5 years ago when it was really popular. Every day id check it and all my info would be switched around and changed. I finally realized that someone had hacked the account causing all my info to change at random. so i just deleted it. my other bandmates have myspace pages and they have posted several ads for drummers to no avail.

btw did you listen to the tracks?
