A few weeks ago I heard this story on NPR

Interesting I thought, but not really that amazing, sounded a lot like what PRS has been doing for years, plus the interview was for mainstream consumption so didn't get all that technical as you might notice. I had been away for a couple of days and got back tonight and read the SDS 1 vs Super II thread, and it jogged my memory of the NPR story.

no middle pick up so I don't think there is a lot of the Irwin sound in there, but never the less simple and innovative and that's almost just exactly perfect in my book
