When it doesn't fit anywhere else

I am thinking of going wireless but don't want to lose tone or break the bank. Anybody wireless? If so what are you using or do you have an recommendations from experience.

I had a buddy of mine jam with us recently and he had a samson airline. Sounded pretty good. He was also playing through a DR Z amp so I am sure that helped!

I'd steer clear of Samson gear. Just my bad experience.

I use a Shure SLX Wireless wireless system. I a/b'd at a shop I used to do alot of business with in their acoustic room. Just me, my amp, my #1 Mogami cable.

I tried about 6 wireless units. Each time it was wired, switch to wireless, think, relax the ears.

I narrowed it down to 2. Grabbed a smoke, bullshitted with the guys, grabbed another ones ears so there were 3 of us.

All 3 of us agreed that the cable sounds just a bit better - very, very small bit. Then compared it to my livewire cable and it was dead on equal.

Take if for what it's worth.

I use a Nady XR-61 for my bass... Have had great results with and only a few issues with reception in one building that has a 16 Aviom/Shure IEM setup. I've used this unit for 5 years now.

My Gator clone has a gutted Audio Technica ATW-R10 wireless receiver in the tremolo spring cavity, it's wired internally to a 3PDT switch that allows for switching between the 1/4" jack and the wireless... The best thing about this one is the fact that it's SLEEK!

You can really fool someone that didn't know better since it looks like the guitar is not plugged in!

I've had no issue with tone or reception with this one, I actually ripped the Stratoblaster clone out and just run the wireless since it seemed that the buffer was not making things better overall.

Well I took the plunge and went for the shure SLX4. I used it with my band last night. I was not disappointed. I noticed no tone change.

Its pretty freeing not to have a chord!

EXCELLENT!

Now here is the downside....

You'll never want to be wired again!

we played for a few hours last night. It was pretty funny because for the first hour or so, I still just stayed in my usual spot. Like I was still tethered or an animal in a cage and the door is open but I stayed inside.

Then once I realize that I was still stuck in my spot and didnt need to be, I moved around a bit.
