Johnny Cipollina, One of the great innovative guitarists from the days of peace and love. John was alsoa great ornamental guitar designer and was an inspiration to many of the luthiers of that period. Certainly those of us building in the San Francisco Bay area were influenced, Tuner and the builders at Alembic, Irwin and myself, Moonstone Guitars and a fellow named Butterflash MacCaverite, I wonder what ever happened to old Butterflash?
Johnny Cipollina was so much to rock and roll, it is staggering. He most importantly was a kind gentleman to all throughout his stay on this wheel. http://www.johncipollina.com/

Very cool article. I love seeing those old mag features. It is amazing how far reaching the San Fran music scene was (is) in it's influence.

It's also good to know what kind of string Chris Squire used, man!

I've seen him live sitting in with the Dead on a few SF NYE shows. I remember his distinctive vibrato...
