Think about it - on stage, between songs, lowered lights. Conversely in the heat of a song, switching pickups, and stopping to find your post-it with the setting and then tilting the guitar to match it up?!

GOOD! I'm definitely not pro but I do play out twice a month sometimes more sometimes less.

I'm better understanding what you use it for in your other post! Thanks for explaining and helping me understand it!

I had them on my SG and removed them because they would cut me. They are mounted beneath the nut & washer of the pot (remove the knob first). Your average pot doesn't really need them due to the variance of the sweep...but they can make a handy reference point.

I knew that was comin'!! I didn't know what they were called. I started searching for them on the Net under knobs and various guitar hardwares. I found them, and the company called them "knob pointers".

I got my "knob pointers" in the mail yesterday, put them on this morning. Easy to do, even for me.
I got them from Guitar Parts Resource.com. They come in gold or nickle. $4.99 for a set of 4. Gibson only I presume.
Turned all knobs to zero.
put little pieces of mask tape on guitar body, with a pencil line to mark zero.
removed knobs carefully
removed 1/2 in. tone pot nut-carefully
put knob pointer on, and set the point towards pencil line zero.
replace 1/2 nut-a monkey hair past hand tight.
replace vol/tone knobs with zero set at knob pointer.

Yes Strumminsix, I wanted to keep it clean, so I used Monkey hair. I know we have some members here from the Fairer Sex. I don't want to upset those beautiful babes.
Yes I like them. They are going to be functional. They are hardly noticeable.
