I just got a Warmoth body, with a mahogany back and bloodwood top. I ordered it unfinished because I want to drill a lot of holes in it for switches and jacks and tailpiece and what not.
Has anyone ever finished one of these? There are many suggestions out there, including tung oil, tru-oil, water-based varnishes, oil-based varnishes, wipe-on stuff, spray-on stuff, brush-on stuff, etc. I want to do it myself, but want it to look decent -- i.e., I want to fill the pores in the mahogany and try to get that "mirror-like" professional-looking finish.
Any suggestions? Alternatively, has anyone had one finished by a pro they'd recommend? How'd it come out? How much did it cost?
