Going to be at both shows. Here are a few predictions:

(1) Donna sits in Friday night (because of her after-show at the bar at the ballpark across the street)...maybe even Saturday (no announced show).

(2) Morning Dew.

(3) Looks Like Rain (they're calling for showers all weekend).

(4) Playin' in the Band.

(5) Dancin' in the Streets.

(6) Samson - hopefully as the encore Saturday night (I'd love for the last words they sing in the Spectrum to be "tear this old building down...that's right!").

I'm hoping for a lot of Bobby-the-cowboy tunes as well.

Well, no Donna Friday night Maybe tonight, but I'm not holding my breath

We got the Playin' (would've been better with the Banshee yelp).

We got both a "Cold Rain and Snow" AND a "Box of Rain" (they do have a sense of humor, it seems).

So we'll see how things shape up tonight.


On a side note, I got hassled in the lot for not having a license to sell t-shirts. Two earpiece wearing fellows were examining the shirts, and as they walked by me I said "Don't worry guys, the shirts are all cool. I made sure to check all the designs out before I printed them up." Apparently one of the guys took that as a personal affront. He pressed me about the shirts with the word "Spectrum" on them, which I then explained didn't infringe because it didn't use the words the "Wachovia Spectrum" nor did it use any of the images that Wachovia had trademarked (I really had done my homework). Then he countered with my one weakness: "Oh yeah, Mr. Smartass, well do you have a license to sell on this property?" Since I didn't, he told me to take my stuff down and put it away or he'd confiscate it. So, I won't be selling my shirts in the lot today. Ebay/craigslist here I come! Worst part of it all was that his partner actually liked the shirts and thought I had done a good job (he mentioned this to one of my friends), but the power-trip cop thought I was being a smartass when really I was really just trying to be helpful. Great. City of Brotherly Love.

I couldn't really see Bobby because the guy in front of me on the floor was tall and his dreads were wide, but I could see Phil clearly all night. He was in his element and loving every second of it.

It was a thing of beauty. Can't wait for the show to be on the archive! I took some pics with my phone and will see what I can do about getting them up on here.

I dunno, I was there, and thought that the entire first set was fantastic, but the second set was pretty uneven at best. The Good Lovin' was fine, Cumberland had trouble getting going but was good after it did, Cryptical / Other One were pretty good, although the Other One definitely had a few truly meandering moments.

The Morning Dew, to me, was WEAK - Bobby's singing missed the end of every line, and no jam at the end? They really need to let Warren sing this one. Revolution was well done, St. Stephen was good as well ( but the one in C'ville I saw was much better, I think ), and then it came to a crashing halt while Bobby ran around on stage telling everyone what to do next while the crowd was pushing for Not Fade Away. Instead we got the Help / Slip / Franklins - the transition from Slipknot into Franklin's Tower was a total Bobby induced train wreck. I really got the impression that they were trying too hard to be amazing, and ended up a bit flat in the end.

Don't get me wrong; the energy was there, but I really thought that a lot of the key moments in the second set were just really, really sloppy. All in all, of the two shows I saw, this one had the better set list, but I think Charlottesville was a tighter, better played show. Just my .02.

I don't know how it'll sound on an ipod, but the spirit was bouncing off the walls last night and the fans were roaring. a lot of smiles for a gritty, cynical place like philly.

technically? I thought the band played at a higher and more consistent level than they had for years before jerry died. after a 13 year hiatus; if it takes a few shows to settle in, then it's gonna be a great ride.

shed the heaviosity and the mystique and play for the fun of it. who'd a thunk.

just call me one old fart that's really grateful they're doing this for us, and doing it really well.
