Yeah the humor is about as non-sequiter(sp?) as it gets, took me years to warm up to the show, because on the very surface it seems Simpsons-ripoffy. It does offend me, quite often in fact. My 2yo daughter goes totally monkey-dookie for the theme song, but we're getting to the point where we dont want her to start understanding the sick sick jokes.

Hey what do you guys think of Hell In A Bucket?
I have pretty much thought of it as a Bobby throw-away for years ('never developed a top 10 worst, but HIAB might of been on it), but, for the first time (just last night), I jammed along with the Ticket To NYE version, and there are just a TON of Jerry-isms all the way through that tune!
It's actually seems pretty easy, too... once ya know it (i'm still on my first pass).
SideNote: I notice in this 1987 vid that Jer has both MuTrons in his rack.

Love the song. Jerry just smokes it. Only time it bugged me was when Bob would get a little too out there with the falsetto madness at the end. Otherwise a great GD song. I think the "In the Dark" album was their best sounding studio album ever done. The low end is a total sack shaker.

2nded. GREAT number, esp for the post-Terrapin period of writing. Jerry terrorizes, and Phil rips everybody a new one as well, not to mention some very ruthlessly dissonant voicings from Bobby. The early ones '83-84 are... not as good- a bit directionless. But the rhythm section seemed to polish up the arrangement very slickly around the time ITD was recorded, which contrasted nicely with all the raunchiness which remained intact.
