My band will be playing Dead before and after the real Dead in Worcester, MA on Sat. 4-18.

We'll be at Tammany Hall, about a quarter-mile from the DCU Center. We'll do a set from about 4:00 to 6:00 and another after the show from 11:30 to 2 am.

Here's some directions:

Should be a fun night. Maybe we can get Warren to sit in!

Any gearheads who can't get in, email [email protected] and we'll find you a way.

Lotsa fun ... big crowds before and after the show. Door count was near 600. People dug it, we played till 2 am. I was pretty tired by the end of the night, though, wasn't playing as crisply as I would have liked to. We are always stupid loud on that stage, although people said it sounded great in the club itself. I wore plugs most of the time onstage and the whole time at the Dead show, and my ears are still ringing.

That was a long day, though! Didn't get home till 3:30.

It was kind of funny, during our first set we played (among others), Feel Like a Stranger, Terrapin and Chinacat/Rider ... and then The Dead played them, too. But we met lots of new folks, finally got a chance to hand Dozin my Tiger guitar, too.

If I think of it, I'll give you a pair of the earplugs I use when motorcycling to try. I have a whole huge box of them. The brand is Howard Leight, and they are IMO very good.

I didn't know you rode, Bob! Or did I? I donno. I commute to Boston on a Suzuki SV650.

The Howard Leight earplugs are supposed to be great... I donno, I have fine luck with disposable CVS plugs - but I use them backwards and cut the tips off. What's the big advantage?

No, I don't think we ever got there. What a great bike the SV650 is. I rode one up in Ontario one time and they really love the corners, don't they? My last Suzuki was a GSXR1100 that I added hard bags to for touring. I currently ride a BMW R1200GS, but haven't had as much time as I would like to ride it for the last couple of years.

I don't know that there is anything special about the Leight ear plugs. I bought half of a REALLY big box of them from a friend a couple of years ago and still have lots of them left, so I don't mind sharing. Leight makes a bunch of different kinds. Everyone's ears are shaped a little differently, so I think different ones work better for different people. I'll try to get some to you next time I see you.
