I listened to this disk again just last Friday on the way to the ski area... 'Made me want to do Sunrise for my own enjoyment.
The part about Breezes from Winds inside your body was about Jer cuttin' cheese on stage, right?

No that was "forming winds both Foul and Fair all swarm" from Terrapin.

And you thought Weir was just waving away Jerry's cigarette smoke. Ha!

Well, I can only think of one, its way too long and different everytime I hear it. Its like they haven't played it right ever 'cause they always add something to it and change it... by the middle of the song you can't even remember what song it is, and on the better versions it seems like all of them are playing different parts or even songs for that matter, would never hold its own against there better songs like Me and My Uncle or Big River. By the time they finish the song you are just glad they rememebered what they were playing and finally ended it! Whew... now dry your hands everyone!

I rarely watch "Family Guy" but checked out a couple of episodes last night. Maybe I'm just getting old and because I'm a Dad now but so many of the scenes just seem designed not for congruity or function of the story/script but just for the sheer shock value and let's see what special interest group we can piss off and downright insult this week. We had a discussion here on commedy a while back with "Pineaapple Express" and why some people didn't like it. Well, I guess my problem with "Family Guy" is there is a delicate way/fine line between mocking something and just being flat out insulting (esp. with religion).this crosses
that line for me, and I am about as anti-religious as you can get.
Now don't get me wrong I do enjoy some of it. The scene last night where a bunch of Wheelchair bound guys formed into a giant transformer robot and attacked Peter was classic.

Given this thread has made a 90 degree turn, I'll just add that my favorite family Guy was when peter and Lois started up their old singing group for a talent show and decided to "look for some inspiration in the cigar box under brian's bed".....then when they played, they thought it was great til they were "uninspired" and realized they sucked.

Overall, a great show---tangential at times, but that's what makes it different than other animated shows. My favorite aniamted show (other than the Simpsons) was Duckman. If you get a chance to catch the reruns, do so. Freaking brilliant. They occasionally used Zappa music in the shows too.
