I also enjoyed many a Grateful Dead show (83-93) but fell out of it with Vince and worn down Jerry in the later years. Have not seen any Dead bands, did see one Phil and friends that was okay at best. No matter what they bring, no one is going to bring the emotion to singing, the wit and ability in playing and the all out charisma of Jer. But for this trip- I am on board. Will go to Charlottesville and hope to enjoy it- maybe one more time. It is what it is and I too have high hopes - the rehearsal vids look great and I agree... it seems they may have put some sh*it between them behind and moved on to toning up, practicing and playing a limited schedule but all solid shows-With something to prove. Lets hope so.

Well, this should be different. My last show was 95' / Salt Lake. I just purchased tickets for the Gorge, May 16th, and am contemplating bringing my 13 yo. son along. What do you all think? Is the scene going to be something I would want to experience with my son? I'm interested in how it will go....

Absolutely. I have many friends who bring their kids of every age to these type of events. It's a great experience for him and he'll see plenty of others his age. I'm bringing my 2 year old (not planning on getting too much all out "adult" recreation.)

Ive seen "the Dead" 4 times. just didnt sound right with Warren in there. Ive seen Mule many times and i still dont see whats so special about him.

Warren is kind of like SRV. He doesn't do much that's revolutionary, but he's just so damn good at what he does that it works. He's got to be the best bluesy Gibson-slinger alive, and a pretty good songwriter.

Last GD show for me was the summer of 94. Went to a Further Festival a few yrs later and enjoyed the hell out of it. I'm taking my 11 yr. old son to see The Dead at Shoreline. I have a feeling this very well might be the last go round. I'm jazzed about going and just diggin' the vibe and having a good time. I think the boys have a few tricks up their collective sleeves yet

If ticket prices were lower ($100 dollar miracle anybody?) I would go, as it is, as a younger head (26) never got to see Jerry and I honestly mostly enjoy late 60s through 78 or so, then I lose interest. Ratdog, seen em a few times, Not too bad, Phil N Friends rocked my socks off though.
