OK everyone new topic...let's talk encores. Name your favorite encore song and the one that made you run for the parking lot.

Mine are

Favorite: One more Saturday night
Least: Day Job (my least favorite Dead played song of all)

And We Bid You Goodnight 7/17/89 (after 756 show absence)

but really, nothing tops Brokedown Palace.

Least favorites: Was going to say "none!", but ehhhhh its gotta be I Fought The Law

Terrapin, from the 90's somewhere. Never forgot it.

Tigerstrat you are right, I saw those Alpine shows too and they were solid - culminating in the rain show dancin' and trippin' in the rain. The We Bid You Goodnight was sweeeeeet!! I remember sitting at the campsite that night and we were marveling at that songs appearance. For a big hole and parking lot in nowhere Wisconsin, Alpine valley had some good shows.

On another note "Brokedown Palace" is an excellent choice and "Baby Blue" occurred to me also but I liked the encore to be rockin' rather than mellow. "Sugar Mag" is a good one too.

Always loved to hear Brokedown to end a show, what a way to go out.

On the other hand, heard way too much of Liberty in the 90s.

Brokedown was the first think that popped in my head so I have to join the bandwagon and go with that as well.

Brokedown is definitely my favorite in terms of typical encores. My favorite ever was probably the Box after the last show in Chicago. That was also my 4th or 5th double encore which they tended to only do to close a tour.Close second would be Satisfaction at my first show in (11-29) 81. It was one of the few songs I actually knew, other than shakedown and Truckin.

By far my least favorite--even surpassing the dreaded Day Job---was I Fought the Law.

I loved the Baby Blues that I saw. Always a nice easy let down to then head out to the lot. But my fav would also have to be Brokedown, because I only saw it once, that I remember, and that was at my first red Rocks show, 85- the Thurs show. They started it and Bob and Jer came in at different times and kinda botched the beautiful opening, so they stopped and laughed, regrouped and nailed it.

Time to head out..... always Day Job.

You sure that wasn't Pittsburgh 7/2/85. Jerry started the song off totally wrong and Weir was looking at him like, WTF???

Jerry realizes and stops playing. Laughs and says "sounded pretty good didn't it?!" Crowd goes nuts....
Then they played it from the start again.

Brokedown from Telluride in 87'. Jerry says it best after they botch it.... "This is all fucked up".

I'll give a nod to Black Muddy River as a fantastic encore. Always a shame when the crowd cheers for "this night will last forever" when its really about anguish and not partying up.

Happened to see two Satisfactions from my couple dozen shows. Can't think of one that really brought me down. I will think about it.

Cheers

I prefer uptempo encores. The slow tunes make me start thinking about leaving early.
