So my good brother just gave me a Vapir. I've tried it a few times and am still trying to figure out the optimal temperature. It's digital so it holds an exact temp really well.
I've been using 300 but someone told me that's too high---330 blows smoke, and it seems way to low at 250 which is the default.
Anyone who what the very best temp would be?

Got to be one of the sickest things ever made. I feel like mines improved my breathing and overall health is just two days of use. I finish up with mine at about 390F; but I've found differnt temps cause different effects - experiment arround with different temps - I think the effective range is about 230 - 390, based on my experimenting - which I'll be doing more of over the weekend.

How do you like the Vapir? I've heard some so-so things about them, and I'm leary of using something with a lot of plastic in the construction and the bag and all. I use both a tower style and a Vapor Cannon. This is definately the freebasing of herb use.

Also, FYI I've heard that you can save your ABV and then use it to cook with. I don't know how effective this is - but I think I might take what I already have and make up 1 or 2 honey slides for the weekend.

I've looked at several sites which give a huge range (260-392). The range I now think is best is bewteen 270 and 330. You do get smoke at about 310, so I'm prolly gonna keep it about 290-300. Lots of sources seem to suggest 356-365. Seems too high. I tried it of course....myaswell just break out the glass. Lots of smoke.

I noticed the health benifits right away as well, but as you mentioned, it's plastic and there's a kind of electrical-type smell....I hope it'll go away after using it more. It seems to be decreasing over the past few days. I don't have a bag---just a tube. I do want to get the bags though. I like it well enough as is, but I also didn't buy it, so I can't complain. If I was gonna buy one and had the serious $$$ I think a Volcano would be the way to go. Otherwise, pretty much any of the cheaper "box" versions are ok too. I've tried a couple---they don't have specific settings....you just play around with it and figure out what works best. I gotta assume "finishing up at 390" is way too high---aren't you getting some serious nastiness from that?

I am definitely planning on doing that as well. I've already saved up a nice amount of "duff" as my buddy calls it. I'm guessing it's effectiveness depends on how high you vaped it at and what's left. After 392, there oughtta be nada.

Now, I'm not a doctor, but from what I gather, that smoke is the vapo's itself - the the volcano will fill the bag up with white mist, for example. My theory is this - the higher temps (ie 390) vaporize all pyschoactives and THC in the herb at once- which creates a lot of 'smoke'. Assuming this because there is alot more 'smoke' from a fresh load at 390 than there is after you've hit the load at 270, 300, 300, 360 or whatever. I had some catch last night and it was definately different that when you are normally using it.

Well, yea and nea, if you've vaped it at lower temps, yeah, it gets nasty quick. If you have a fresh load, not so much. I go until I get the burnt popcorn taste (If i am not fucked up beyond belief by then), then take 3-4 more hits, so I'm convinced its done. Overall, the herb looks like regular tobacco once I'm done - some is scorched, but I'm still getting the hang of this.

If you do a youtube search for Vaporizers 101 (I am still @ work, otherwise I'd post) there's a very informative video by this dude from a medical society who goes through how to use it and so forth.

As far as cooking goes, I agree how vaped it is will affect the effectiveness when cooked - as I said above, I go until it looks like tobacco. Some dude on a message board made a standard box of browines with about 3/4 of an o. Said they were strong as hell. Even if it doesn't pan out, I'm cool, I get more than enough mileage with this thing.

From what I hear the volcano is godly. The box version I use (mainly) has two temps - the set one and then where you are at right now, which helps when trying to get a good drag. Also picked up a basic tower model, which I like a bit more even though theres been a bit more of a learning curve.

First alow me to say I am no way affiliated with the Vapro company besides the fact that I think their vaporizer is by far and away the best unit out there for ease of use, reliability, and what I call vapability.

Basically the Vapro works like any other heating element. It's a metal enclosure with a heating element surrounded by a glass cylinder. It comes with a glass bowl fitted to accommodate the cylinder of the heating element so essentially you hold the Vapro in one hand, the bowl in the other hand and smoke as you normally would. The difference here is the heat obviously. There are no bags to deal with or temperature settings to fuck with either. It has a knob that has three settings, off, idle, and on.

It takes about 6 minutes to get to heat which is also a nice bonus. They are not cheap, but seriously for those of you with wives who do not love the smell of pot (she has other assets so I let it slide), or with kids you don't want to walk into the house and get a contact high from the 12 footer you just pulled, I highly recommend the Vapro. I can pull one in the kitchen and never hear a peep from Mrs. Crazy about it. Whether or not allowing my 22 month old son to see me do it will affect his decisions later in life remains to be seen and shall be determined at a much later date.
