You folks catch this quip on last week's 30 Rock:

Jack (Alec Baldwin) is asked if he knows the postmaster general and he says he did but they had a falling out over the Jerry Garcia postage stamp. He said if he wanted to lick a hippie he'd just return Joan Baez's phone calls.

Anyone else run across any Dead references on the tele lately?

Was there really a Jerry stamp?

Yes, I did just fall off the turnip truck...

I'd return Joan Baez's phone calls......That's really funny.

There was not a US based Jerry stamp, there was talk about it after he died. Someone created one in France, I think, but there was never a US one.

Jerry Garcia Stamps.

I have a block of 4 with him on them, from some far away country. It's been over ten years since I looked at them, so I forget where.

But I think there may be several countries that put him on their stamps. The country that had the tie dye olympic basketball team 4 or 8 years ago may have been the country that put a stamp out with him on it.

You could google it, maybe.

I have two sheets of these same stamps. I couldn't remember what country they were from off the top of my head but upon seeing the picture they are the same ones I have.

That would be Lithuania. And believe it or not it was 16 years ago at Barcelona '92, (not 4 or 8, ya stonah!) The U.S. had a pretty good team that year iirc.

Just today on CNBC (business/stock news), they go to commercial with Run, Run, Rudolph and the commentator says something like, "so and so, our producer and director loves the GD...they're both huge Deadheads and I'm surprised they don't play a lot more Dead during these segments".

Even on national business TV!
