When it doesn't fit anywhere else

Everything is wrong with this!

The playing sucks, the singing sucks, the video is overexposed and had a hiccup in the middle. And for some reason the sound is off from the picture.

It was our first gig last week. I have been playing seriously for about 2 years. The gig was for charity so I couldn't say no. We had gotten together for a couple of hours during the week to get our act together. It didnt work!

I am playing a warren haynes lp. I had to take the volume knobs off of my strat and put them on the lp. It looked terrible! I did it because the knobs are tight and I sweat when I play and it was hot out and I cant turn them too easily. So I needed knurled knobs.

The other guitarist guitar's tone was really weak. He couldn't dial it in. During the week when we rehearsed we had a party at the drummer's house during the day. So we played out by his pool. While we were taking five there were some little kids running around and knocked over his les paul and broke the headstock. So that was my SRV strat he had to borrow at the last minute.

Anyway as bad as it was, I had a blast and would do it again in a heartbeat.

Now I know why my wife won't let me sing in public. You came out of that sounding pretty good. Maybe a little more like carlos than BB but it sounds like you will be able to play the blues a little better after watching the vid. I'll be down your way in late January, this cold weather up north sucks. My brother has a place in Highland Beach, might have some free time if your interested in getting together one night and playing some tunes. Send me a PM if your interested.

A good trick about the slippery LP knobs - get some decently wide rubber bands and wrap them around the circumference of the knobs before you play... they give you a good grip and won't be noticeable from a few feet way. At least they'd look better than Strat knobs...

Two years ??????
Sounds good for only two years .... no clams smooth in time in tune ....cool sun glasses too...
Something was wrong with the vocals.Distorted.
Maybe it was how it was recorded.
It wasn't nearly as bad as you said.

Thanks,

I used to play a long time ago but I put it down for 19 years. I picked it back up again 2 years ago. I regret my time lost but what can you do?

The singer bad but he knows it. We may be getting a new singer soon.

The band sounded pretty good to me. You had a pretty nice tone goin' for you. However I agree w/you you Need a new singer. The guy you have now sings worse than Lesh! That's BAD!!!

Yeah I put the track on and I watched a bird fall from the sky and die out of my office window when the singer started singing. Might have been a brown note in there as well as he pooped on the way down.

JK

Your guitar sounded pretty good though.

I thought you sounded real good jack - some nice runs goin on there. The singer on the other hand was havin a rough time. Some reverb might have helped, hell, both his guitar and his voice, but there was some "square white guy - lounge lizard" type stuff goin on that no effects would have helped.

yeah he had a rough time with the singing and he was playing a strange guitar at the last minute since his les paul's neck broke.

Here is a show we did last week. The camera was set off to the side so you mostly hear me and the drummer. And you cant see the drummer at all. We went unplugged without any rehearsing! But his voice sounded a bit better here. (still needs work for sure)

The thrill is gone

Here is another one that a funny thing happened. At about 3:50 i did some tremelo picking. I heard a couple of people cheer after that. So I went and told my wife that she needed to see the video. I was all proud of myself for that. Later I realized that the people that "whooped" were the bass player and the other guitar player. :-x

Still got the blues

Nice playing! A few clams but overall very VERY tasty! You should be proud, I would be.

The vocalist is talking instead of singing and is stretching his range by "singing" loudly.

Actually, that sounds pretty good for a guy who's knobs are tight and sweaty so he had to have them knurled.

Sorry, I just came from the "singing" thread.

I think I would describe that recording as "sucky", but I would bet that the live performance was quite good. The recording of the lead singer is aweful, I am sure he didn't sound that way in person. He does not sound like a legendary performer, but I am guessing he did a quite competent job. Your guitar sounds like it was real good, but is real low on the level in the video. If it was louder in person, then again, I am guessing it was a solid show. I wish I could have been there to see it!!
