Any body see phil and friends play on the late show with conan last night. Jackie Green sang a killer sugaree, its was awsome!

I was turned off by Phil and his ever rotating motley crew when I last saw with the lame-ass has been Chris Robinson (who I LOVE in the Black Crows). But last night I was blown away! It woke me up out of a deep sleep that was induced by beer, pizza & a boring Law & Order and I had a blissful few minutes in front of the TV!

I cannot say enough good things about it! Just searched. No youtube of it...

On the heels of the Obama Change Rocks show, I was terribly disappointed with the P&F show I saw at the Nokia last week. Then when I saw them last night on Letterman I too was blown away. I couldn't believe how quiet and tight they were. Must be something about the TV studio and the lower volume they must have played at but it was really night and day compared to the live show they're putting on. It unbearably loud and mushy sounding. Phil's stage volume is just ridiculous and everyone is fighting to be heard. Am I getting old here or what?

They played Sugaree. It was decent, Jackie Greene showing some improvement on lead guitar imho, but I was a little less impressed by Campbell this time. Phil was VERY animated, playing the new bass, and got really goofy at the end, doing a quasi-Charleston jigs behind Conan's signoff.

i saw Phil last night. Damn good show. Jackie can flat out sing and Larry Campbell was a monster last night including a very bluegrass version of FOTD where he played fiddle. Fun stuff

 Does Phil have a stylist now?

I like that Phil has a permanant band. I like them but they bring a different flavor to the tunes so I think I need to soak it up live a few more times to really get an appreciation for it.

Where is the idea that this line-up is permanent coming from? Not saying that you're wrong; I've just not heard that.

Oh, and yeah, the hair was... um.. different.

It's just pure assumption on my part. It seems to be taking shape and gives a more permanant feel than previous line ups he's put together.

Thanks for putting up the youtube video. I missed the original airing of the show but was really impressed by what I saw on the video. Keep up the good work, Phil.

I don't get it - what's so different about his hair? That's more or less how I remember it looking for the last few years. I do have my suspicions about whether or not it's actually all his, however..... Let's be honest, how many folks pushing 70 do YOU know have such thick, lustrous locks?

Who cares about his hair!! :?

It sounded gr8!! Jackie Greene has a good voice, and really brings something to the mix. His playing seems to be getting more mature also. I hope i get to see this lineup again.

The lasy time i saw them, Trey sat in, the rest is history!!!
