so i'm thinking about getting the Epiphone Elitist Les Paul Custom. At first glance the 'Epiphone' name kinda scared me, but i've read reviews on a lot of different websites and their are little to none negative reviews. the problems are verry very minor. But basicly (from what I've heard) It's made from the same wood, and has the same pickups that gibson uses, and it has Grover Tuners, witch i guess are really good. and best of all, it has a really great price for how good it is. but the major difference between this guitar and a gibson is where its made.

But my question is, What color do you guys like best?

Antique White



But I'll still have to test it at a guitar center or something...

If those are the only 3 choices I'd go with the white.

I'd go with the Black, but that's me. If I'm not mistaken aren't the Elitists like the same price as some of the cheeper Gibsons?

The Gibson Studios only a few hundred more and comes in a few more colours, but buy what you like and/or can afford with whatever budget you have.

Me personally I'd go with the Sunburst Gibson.

The thing I would recommend is to go ahead and go into the store with an open mind. IMHO, the most important thing is the neck. Forget about the color and play as many examples of the guitar you think you are interested in as you can. Play it WITHOUT an amp; you don't need to be distracted from how the neck feels by some random amp tone. If there are options of different fret sizes, be sure to check those out, too; they can make a huge difference. Next, spend some time playing a few guitars that you might sort of like but aren't as interested in. This kind of re-sets your brain about how things feel. Kind of like rinsing out your mouth in between tasting different wines. Then go back and play the ones you liked best out of the first group. Find the one or ones that play the best, and then make your choice. You can always get used to a color, but you can never get used to a guitar that doesn't play as well as it should. Yes, having someone do a good set-up on the guitar is important, but it can't cure everything.

Epiphone > Gibson nowadays, imhe

Definitely go with a high-end Epi over an entry level Gibson... black or red. White LPs make me think of that American Idol dude from last season.

Well i've heard that the high-end epi's are just as good if not better than low-end gibbys.

The white would be cool, but shows wear and tear a lot more...

The new Epi's are amazing! Went and played a couple today at Guitar Shitter, oh sorry, Center and was really impressed with them, wish they would have been that way when I bought my guitar, would have had me sold!
