He came back and said he heard Brent had died on the radio.
We were shocked.

Here's my "kinda funny" story on how I heard...
SO, I'm working with my friend Jon (who later became bassist for my now-former band, Double Dose) who was living in Pittsburgh w/ his 2 roomates, Mike & Brett. Now, Mike (who is known amongst Pittsburgh 'Heads very well) has a pretty thick Pittsburgh accent. Jon gets a call at work from Mike that says, "Dude, Brett died." Jon starts freaking out, looks at me and goes, "You gotta cover for me! My roomate's dead!" Now BRETT - at the time - was hittin' stuff kinda hard (I guess we all were when we were younger, in my circle) - so it wouldn't seem all that out of place. Jon rushes home - no one's there...he starts crying and going through Brett's stuff. In walks Brett. Jon, of course looks as if he's seen a ghost. Brett has NO idea what's going on. Mike walks in during their conversation. Jon looks at him and says, "DUDE! Here's Brett - alive and well!" Mike says, "Dude, Brett MYDLAND!" Sad to say, but at this point, Jon was even MORE bummed....

(no offense to Brett if you're reading this!)....Sheesh.
