Wierd gig last Saturday. Not only did the active EQ on my Ibanez crap out (not the battery - I changed it), but our other guitarist's strat started sounding really wierd. Actually, it started at our last practice when he brought a new SS practice amp (don't recall the brand) and we thought that it may be the amp... but it was constant throughout the whole gig through his Two Rock head as well. Just a wierd chorusy sound. He's got a American Strat that he dropped Fralins in a couple years back... anyone ever dealt with something like this?

Never heard of such a phenomenon.

Has he adjusted the guitar so the pickups are a different distance to the strings? The only potential thing I could see would be that a single string is being picked up strangely by 2 poles?!

Thanks, I'll suggest it...

Oddly, he wasn't able to replicate it last night... after having it happen twice through different amps. Wierd. I thought maybe he had a bad patch cable or the AC might have slipped out and he was running an effect on a low 9V, but no...

Anywho, we'll see...

Ya know I was thinking of this last night... Is it possible his action is too low and the strings are rubbing on some high fret on the up the neck?!

Happened to me on another guitar around the 15th fret. The clean channel didn't pick it up but the drive channel did pickup that odd harmonic that it created.
