so I switched on my 65 reissue deluxe reverb not realizing the jack was only half plugged into my tele.After a horrible screech the amp went dead. No biggie I thought as I replaced a blown fuse. Turned it on again and as soon as it warmed up(Tube Amp) the same thing happened. Tried it one more time with the same results...3 blown fuses and an amp that doesn't work. I brought it in to the local dealer and he seemed puzzled. He'll call when he knows something. Anyone out there have any thoughts? I'm worried sick that it's gonna be pricey. I'm looking for my warranty now. :(

blown fuses are often caused by bad power tubes.
did he check them out?

If not get your amp to somebody else.

Had a similar problem, brought my new twin rev reissue home turned it on and had a huge bang and hissing sound. Sent it off to an amp tech and it turned out to be a bad power tube. good luck

I like to keep a spare tube or three on hand. Swapping them out seems to cure most ills, and if swapping tubes, doesn't do it, that's when I give it to a technician.

Well, I hate to say it, but I've been experiencing problems w/ my reissue '65 Deluxe Reverb. It is not powering up fully. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. In the middle of "Loser" at our last show (and I was smokin' the solo, goddamit!), it started cutting out. I would flick the standby switch and it would come back - but just for a bit. THEN, it'd cut out again. David (causebass) yelled across the stage "Flick it up & down really fast - a LOT" - so I did. It seemed to do the trick. HOWEVER, I wasn't taking any chances, so I dropped it off to the local experts on Thursday, last week. Should have word soon.

Dammit.

A fuse always blows for a reason. Simply replacing it is very rarely a solution.

whats this about the instrument cable? shouldn't cause anything like that.

i had a similar problem once. my amp roared and then died and then came back but with a screeching sound or hissing sound always present. turned out that one of the power tubes had got loose in its socket and was now unsoldering something when it heated up, either the socker or something on the board i think. was a pretty easy fix tho, good luck

I FINALLY got my 65 Deluxe Reverb reissue FIXED. They FINALLY did the right thing and checked the circuit board and behind the switches. There was a bad solder in there near the "Standby" switch. Fixed. Finally made it through a whole show without any issues (other than we didn't really play very well! ).

Case freakin' closed!!!

I had a 65 reissue in 2005 and it went out on me at a show (wierd noises, fart sounds, and no sound all mixed together) and I had to finish with a pignose amp. Not the best Bobby tone but it worked. Took the amp to my amptech and immediately he said the jack! Apparently the jack going from the amp to the speaker cabinet is notoriously bad on these amps. Quick cheap fix. Maybe ask about that.

a pair of powertubes, a pair of preamp tubes, fuses, nail clippers, a leatherman, bandaids and picks

spare power tubes... wouldn't that lead to adjusting your amp bias onstage? you should add a meter to that kit. nail clippers?

Aside from not worrying about power tubes failing or becoming flabby, another great (convenient) thing about using JG's preamp-tapped Fender into SS power amp thing, is that I DO bring along the power tube set for which the Fender is already biased, and if the SS amp fails for any reason, I can simply plug the power tubes (and phase-inverter)(...and speaker) into the Fender and use the amp's own disused power section as backup (minus any master volume adjustability)
