sup guys?, i was in the record store the other day and picked up the re-issue of Howard Wales and Jerry Garcia album "Hooteroll?" I had read D mention about it in the think tank, and sure enuff i found it. album was $12 and totally worth it. some Jazz sounds on here to totally get lost in. Howard is amazing on organ, John Kahn and plays bass and Bill Vitt plays drums on a few tracks. Heres the track listing for "reference"

1. Morning in Marin
2. Da Birg Song
3. South Side Strut
4. Up From The Desert
5. DC-502
6. One A.M. Approach
7. Uncle Martin's
8. Evening In Marin

anyone else own this peice of music? cause i highly recommend, even for the casual jazz listener like myself.

For those of us who've exchanged our record player for an ipod, you can get the album at the itunes store too...

This is another album I have to get, I will one day! So many to get, as much as I'd love to spend all my money on records and cd's I just can't!!

I've heard lots of the live stuff and it's great.

Picked this album up used in NM at a second hand store for $2. Talk about a score. Does anyone know if Jerry and Howard played any shows together? Any bootlegs out there? I'd love to trade if anyone's got anything by Howard Wales (preferably w/ jerry but I'd be interested in anything.)
Here's a list of a few things I'd have to offer in return.
The Band - The Genuine Rock of Ages (the real New Years show from 71-72 plus some rehearsal tapes. The "live" official release is mainly rehearsal tapes.)
Dylan and The Band - Basement Tapes 5 volumes
Dylan and the Band - NYE 1974, Madison Square Garden
Miles Davis Quintet - 1967-11-07 Video Karlsruhe, Germany
Pink Floyd - 73-6-20 Merriweather Post Pavillion
Columbia, Maryland - AUD - not the best recording, great show

The original album had a cut called A Trip To What Next. For some reason it didn't make the CD version. If anyone has an mp3 of that cut, Id love to get it from you.

 I too was disappointed to find that this track was not included on the CD reissues of Hooteroll?... While this is somewhat offset by the inclusion of the bookending Marin tracks that weren't on my original vinyl, I liked that song!!

Considering that the album isn't even 40 min long, you'd think they would have given us the original album in its original running order and then a whole mess of bonus tracks including at least a few live Garcia Wales sessions. To change the running order and remove a classic jam is inexplicable.

Like my colleague above, I too would love it if someone had a copy of the missing track for me. As it is, my vinyl copy was stolen 15 years ago... and while this CD sounds good... it is incomplete! [& I am anal]

:? sorry...
