When it doesn't fit anywhere else

Hey all! I'm not sure if this has been discussed here yet. I stumbled across this site yesterday.

http://www.ejamming.com

It seems very cool- although I have not yet tried it. I used to have a Firewire input box. I recently sold it and acquired an M-Audio Black Box that is USB 1.1. It is an ASIO interface and has a bypass mode so I think it will work. There may be some latency that can be adjusted.

I'll post my results when I give it a try. Anyway, it does seem like a very cool on-line collaboration/jamming program. ...certainly worth a look. It is currently in Beta so its FREE. If anyone has tried it or wants to try it. Please post your results.

Thanks.

I checked it out, i.e. registered, downloaded software, installed ASIO4ALL shim for my laptop and got on w/ a mic connected to my laptop mic input. just one of those wand jobbers. And I have terrible hum. Not sure where it is coming from. Other laptops have it also. Wireless?

Anyway, I was on for less than two minutes and a guy from Turkey, a drummer, got in touch. A jazz/funk/fusion guy. We hacked around for about an hour or so. We actually kinda played a bit of "I Shot the Sheriff" a couple times and kept it in sync most of the time. 1/3 of the way around the world!!

Kinda cool. Woulda been cooler if it was Dead but hey, gotta do what you do.

Anyone else have experiences? I tried to save the last session but it blew up apparently. damn beta software

I am gonna work on getting my DAT dubbing card in one of my servers set up. The guy in Turkey had such a quiet feed it was unreal. And with a full drum set too. He had to be micing it so I will ask him what his setup is for the eJam. I know my server room has a lot of ambient noise from the fans, etc. Not sure how to deal with that directly. Maybe long cables :-?

Pretty cool, though. Should work much better in good ol' USofA due to reduced latency. And we won't go there as I am a network engineer by trade.

This topic should probably be in the General Discussion area. Can a moderator/empowered sage of the board reclassify it?

To all who would try this before it goes production and subscription... good luck!

(yes, that is my handle there too... see you all online   )

brutus, thanks for posting this. Cool link.

Fretful, cool that you jammed with someone in Turkey. That actually inspired me to get out there. I live in Turkey, and can't seem to find anyone to jam with. Using this program, I could search the users in Turkey and found some guys in my town that are looking to jam.
