Has anyone read or seen other bands or musicians that have spoken negatively or positively about the Dead? The connections to the Jam band scene is obvious but maybe other artists that we would not think of having been influenced by the boys.

Saw the Dead Milkmen (of "Bitchin' Camaro" fame) play Cabaret Metro in 85 or so... a free pass iirc, can't think that I would pay, since I was never really a fan. I was a fan of several bands from the L.A. and San Fran hardcore punk scene of that era and saw most of them play the Metro over 85-86ish... Anyway DM did a parody version of Sugar Magnolia that cracked me up:

HA! BTW, love me some punk! Sadly Chicago never really had much of a punk scene that I was familiar with so my tastes are more more mainstream like Ramones etc However I do totally enjoy Green Day. Who from my die-hard punk friends say are crap but I think they capture something that is a combination of old-school, new school and even have bits of jamminess in there!
