^^^i am very grateful to have attended that show...the energy in that place that night was just amazing....such a special evening!!
Ill have to cast another vote for the 10/20/07 Glens Falls shows. Best show Ive seen for a long damn time. Phil and Trey play well together.

I was there. Phil did a great Tom Thumb's with a D.C. reference slipped in, an epic Terrapin. Revolution encore.
I would also recommend 11/2/85, Richmond, VA. Morning Dew out of space....PHILTACULAR.
ALSO, Oxford Plains Speedway 7/2/88....NUTSO SHOW altogether.

Anything late 60's to early 70's is more likely than not to have Phil leaving a smoking crater of your mind.
For solos, don't miss out on , his "Philo Stomp" coming out of Dark Star 10/18/72 St. Louis, or his solo out of Eyes, 7/22/74 Fresno.
It's really much easier to try to list shows where he wasn't so great, imho. Late 70's he was drinking hard, and inconsistency plagued his sound, to my ears. Take 8/4/76 for an example of exceptionally sloppy Phil.

Check out the Oxford 7-2-88 Jack Straw for some serious Phil Bombs. Great banter after that. One of my most favorite shows ever.
I was at those shows in Maine in 88, it was the loudest I ever saw them play, the Terrapin was huge. If I remember correctly, during the jam at the end of Crazy Fingers there were fireworks behind the stage spraying showers of sparks up behind the boys that kept the jam rolling for longer than usual. And of course everything post space was incredible, check out the bass during last jam in Morning Dew. That was a good show. I never knew who decided to put the Dead in these places that seemed like you were seeing the biggest music in the world in the middle of nowhere. Maine was always a good place to see shows, me and my friend drove up to Portland in the spring of 86 and saw a show at Cumberland Co. Civic Center and they did a Playin'>Franklin's that was pretty sweet.
