Hey Everyone,

Come check out The JFP tonight, Friday, October 3rd, at Beau's Bar in Greenlawn, NY. Showtime is 10:00PM sharp and as usual, we'll be going all night with multiple sets.

Joining us for this very special show on electric bass is Ray Kairys of NYC favorites, The Electrix. Ray has performed with Levon Helm, Buddy Cage, Michael Falzarano and Vassar Clemens to name a few, and has shared the stage with many other greats. We're very psyched to have him filling in on the bass tonight!

Beau's Bar has turned out to be quite the spot lately. It's fast becoming our version of The Keystone. Tunes get turned on their heads and it just feels good there. Tons of craziness and a cool turnout no matter the occasion. Owned and run by none other than Beau, an old school tour head from back in the day. It's a cool family all around

The JFP is a NYC band which covers the music of Jerry Garcia in his various configurations when he wasn't playing with The Grateful Dead. We're drawing on tunes from his stints with Merl Saunders, Legion of Mary and The Jerry Garcia Band.

Yes, it is. That's a DMZ 2000 pictured on the website. I have a bunch of old Kramers. I've been using a modified DMZ 3000 as of late.

Yes, it is. That's a DMZ 2000 pictured on the website. I have a bunch of old Kramers. I've been using a modified DMZ 3000 as of late.

Cool. I have a similar looking DMZ 2000, myself. Bought it at Sam Ash in White Plains around 77 or 78, I think. You mod yours at all? The frets on mine are so big...

Yes, 2 of my favorites as well because I get to do the Jerry shred on the MXR Distortion+. Last night was sick. We're all still recovering. The highlight for me was the jam in Let's Spend The Night Together.

I mod all my instruments. The Kramers I have all have Stratoblasters in em'. Like I said, the 2000 is collecting dust these days since I got ahold of the 3000. I had Phil Petillo do the fretwork on em'. He's the guy who designed the original aluminum neck Kramers. Still in biz in NJ. His refret jobs are the best I've seen. Uses stainless steel instead of nickel alloy. And the crowns are an interesting pyramid shape instead of curved.

Yes. Really nice guy. It's him and his son David. Can't say enough about the 2 of them. He'll tell you first hand stories of Travis Bean and the whole aluminum neck design. How it came about and his involvement in the design. He has some interesting patents. And if you can, I recommend going to his shop in NJ. It's a museum of guitars and building materials. He has boxes of original Kramer pups that he wound himself from the mid 70's.

Thanks very much for that. I may have him go over my old DMZ2000 when the budget recovers a bit from current excesses. The main thing I need is smaller frets. The ones on it now are so big that if I fret a chord hard, it pulls the intonation off.
