I for one would like to see what its like if they didnt replace him. Just took a hornsby or a constanten and let them do the leads. You cant replace Garcia.

I totally agree, or David Murray, or Branford.

That show would be TOTALLY sickleberry. TC handling 99% of the leads ('cause you KNOW ol' Bobstar would SURELY whip one or two out) - I'd like to be there for THAT.

Maybe it should be a same-era-specific lead guitarist. Someone who also "was there".
David Nelson, Jorma, Santana, I dunno... maybe Steve "Guitar" Miller (yeah, I know... please, not Steve Miller)?
Who are the other lead players that used to be on the bill with the Dead in the 60's?

Do they still have to be alive ?

Alive and still able to slice though Help/Slip, etc...

Wouldn't this be a slam dunk for Jorma?

Why not? I'd love to see a Jorma show. He knows how to play it loud! I've heard tales of Hot Tuna... Plus he could break out the acoustic and traditional tunes. Doesn't know the words to Friend of the Devil, though. That's a little concerning...

Jorma ? Help/Slip ?
How 'bout the Dire Straights guy ?
What about a guy with the "Bakersfield" sound ?
A tele player .....
Someone here once suggested Brad Paisely ....
Maybe not so crazy of an Idea.
:D

Shortly after Jerry's passing Clapton was on Larry King and it was rumored(ugly) that E.C. was going to replace Jerry. Clapton replied that was news to him but said it would be great fun to play with them. Now that would be interesting  8)

Ew, just NO!

Clapton is good at doing what Clapton does. Outside of what he does . . . . forget about it.

Mark Knopfler would be interesting.
