Hey now,

I finally got around to uploading my album to the archive! Now y'all can check it out if you want.

So here's the deal. I'm 18 years old, just graduated from highschool, and recorded this album of all original music during the spring. I'm real proud of it. I guess it sounds like Jackie Greene on a mellow trip. Complete with vocals, guitars, banjos, bass, piano, organ, drums, harmonica, and a mandolin. Special thanks to my friends who perform on the album with me.

And I'd like to thank this forum for helping me develop my music. I am self-taught and use this site for most of my learning. Yalls help has made this possible.

So please! Give it a listen, throw me some feedback. It's far from perfect but each song has its own unique style.

Just gave it a slight listen. Reminds me of Neil Young a little when he was young, but then again he's always been Young.

Not bad for 18 years old. If you had a recording engineer/studio they'd work a lot more to get your vocals to be less percussive. That's about all I can see.

Nice lead on Two Lives at the 5:30 mark.

If you keep at it you'll probably be famous someday. It takes a lot of drive to get as far as you have here, and that's what you need to make it in the industry.

Over all, nice job.

Really nice stuff here. I thought it was well written & performed. Seems like a Neil Youngish flavor at times, which is a good thing. You're young and have the drive and talent to make some noise in the business. Keep it up.

Thanks for all the replies! I'm glad somebody liked it. And about the first song-- it does sound somewhat familiar to wagon wheel but has completely different lyrics, etc...

WeirImpressed-- Recording is actually really easy. I plug my guitar into a M-Audio preamp ($150) > goes into the computer > edit and produce on Audacity (free). Same process for the mics. I brought a set of 2 good mics for $100. SO, all in all, you need about $250 to set up your own recording studio. Let me know if you need any more help. I can recommend some good brands to look for.. etc....

Just listened to 2,4,5,6,9 and 12. I really liked your electric guitar tone and solos--maybe you could take a few more or make them a little longer. I liked your instrumental as it reminded my of David Gilmore's The Narrow Way from Ummagumma.

As others have said, you do sound a bit like Neil but I also heard some Paul Simon-like stuff. I thought your vocals were good. The girl you have singing on there has a great voice too.

My only critiques would be that:

You would benifit from having someone who really knows how to mix do a remix if possible.

I would respectfully disagree that "each song has its own unique style". It's not a bad thing, but it does sound like every song was written by the same person.
Mellow is nice, but it's cool to rock it a little bit too. I was waiting for a song to pick up the pace a bit. Then again, I only listened to a few songs.

You need a better organ sound---that one is pretty much cheese.

All in all, for an 18 yo musician, I'd say you have it going on pretty good man. You should definitely keep on with it as you sound pretty good and would only get better with more time.
