I saw them on Saturday. Very, very cool.
warren haynes and derek trucks are the guitar players....and they are amazing...but right now since gregg is recovering from hep c...they just dont sound that great
And i thought ratdog was very boring...that band needs some inspiration.

Saw the jones beach show as well. RD had some moments as far as I'm concerned. The highlight was Mississippi half step. After that the Help on the way, New speedway and Franklins were pretty good. I didn't much care for She said and Masters of war but that might be cause I don't know them very well. I don't really care for Corrina either but they seemed to play that pretty well. Liberty is another one they played that I don't really dig. I guess I tuned out a bit when some of these "new" songs came out in the late 80's early 90's.
Warren played on New Speedway & Mississippi and along with higher volume (that Mark Karan could use!) picked those songs up a bit.
I thought the end jam to mississippi had some real good energy.
The ABB seemed a bit hollow to me, may have been the sound? When DT played lead Warren backed him up well with his rythym which gave some nice flow but when it flipped I couldn't say the same for DT. His rhthym seemed too low in the mix. Gregs voice seemed a bit weak at times.
While I like DT a lot and think he's very talented, he's really locked into the blues scales and when they play a more melodic tune I find him a bit of a let down - kinda like Larry Campbell with Phil. For instance when they played Jessica I found myself almost exhaling in relief when DT finished his un-melodic lead and Warren started playing with some much appreciated major pent + melodic riffs.
Was a bit weird. For me anyway.
Off the top of my head they played You don't love me, Melissa, Les Brers in A minor, some kickin blues tunes I didn't know, Good mornin little school girl, Same thing, closed with Jessica and I was headin for the car during One Wat Out. I can't remember the rest. There was a pretty cool jam w/ the sax, keys and MK from Rat dog at one point and MK sat in on a blues number and held his own with the big blues boys.

i agree ratdog was def a little flat. bobby just doesnt't sing anymore, just basically talking the lyrics. The allmans sounded ok, all things considered, warren carries the show as always. headed to hartford hoping everyone has a little pep in their step. btw dickie was burning out fast when they dropped him.

I saw him play with the Allmans not long before he got fired, and with his own band not too terribly long after he was canned, and he played like a man on fire. Outstanding.
Like most of us, I expect he has ups and downs, but he is still amazing. And, with 40 years of guitar playing under my belt, I don't say that easily or out of any kind of misplaced sense of loyalty.
If I sit back and think about it, he may be my favorite living guitarist. You mileage may vary.

^^^ I AGREE Dickey was great when i saw him. He plays with top of the line players and he was still ripping.
i just thought he was burnt with the allmans, not overall. saw him at gotv the summer he got dropped and he sounded amazing. the shitty thing is that he wrote so many good tunes and the allmans dont stray too much from the stock tunes they usually play. the hartford show was a late start, 8 o'clock, bobby played for almost two hours and seemed to have a little more energy, thought he was pretty good this time out. allmans were ok as usual. warren was sick, dt seemed way to soft at times when they were trading licks. i hate the mountain jam tease they do though. just play it dammit, we all want to hear it. oh yeah and the lots didn't open till almost 6. whats up with that?
