I started wondering today if JG and RH ever played together live? I don't recall ever hearing of them playing together, but then I'm not the foremost expert on Family history. I'm referring to the Dead years, because wasn't RH in one of JG early traditional bands? Anyone have any info? Thanks.

They were in a bluegrass band together. This is one I picked up back when gdlive.org was still operating...

I don't have much info on The Wildwood Boys except that they were bluegrass. RH plays a cool instrumental. The stage banter is pretty funny on this one.

Yeah that's the pre-Dead I was talking about. I think... :D Any idea where I could get my hands on a copy of this?

Hunter has sat in at a number of Garcia Band shows over the years. I saw a him play with Jerry a few times. A show in Hempstead long time ago comes to mind with Hunter playing guitar as well as singing a few of his own solo tunes with The Garcia Band backing him, as well as an acoustic show in Boston or Hartford one year. It wasn't often but they definately gigged alot together. He used to open for Garcia on all his east coast tours.

He is on the officially released show called "after midnight" it's a 1980 jerry band show from jersey I think. He sits in the last set for a tiger rose and promontory rider.

Both have Robert Hunter sittin in on RH's songs Tiger Rose and Promontory Rider. Also you can find RH with JGB on After Midnight. Not sure if the versions are either of the two dates. But yeah good stuff there

I love the riffs Jerry lays down on Promotory Rider! Man... I think it's been at least like 15 years since I heard that.

STEP UP!

I got Hunter singing a Midnight Moonlight from this same tour. Wasn't at that show but I went to a bunch of these Jerry shows in the Winter of 80'. Jerry was lit up like a blowtorch at the Rutgers gig. Come to think of it, so was I. It was almost like free cola night there. Fastest Midnight Moonlight I've ever seen and people were actually trying to dance to it......

Was just listening to that Keane College show yesterday on my way back from my Dad's farm where I did a little riding...

PR rocks... great Jerry licks.

Rest of the show is pretty damned good too... if you can deal with that 1980 synth/keys sound.
