KENNEYBONZ - which 2 tunes were you talking about that they never went one into the other? The GD did do a Me & My Uncle > Cumberland before....I believe (without looking it up), Hampton 88 - same show as the best version of Ballad Of A Thin Man.
I loved ALL the cowboy tunes and FWIW - I consider ALL of the "two-steps" cowboy tunes. It's whatever sounds 'countryish' to me. SO....Me & My Uncle, Mexicali, Mama Tried, Big River, Maggie's Farm, El Paso, Cumberland Blues....all cowboy tunes. The only one on the 'fringe' I can think of (still a two-step) is Jack-A-Roe, 'cause the Am key makes it sound more Irish than country/western. FINALLY, FWIW - miners & cowboys would hang out together all the time back in the days of the old west.
TS - DEADWOOD!!! YES!!!! One of the best shows ever put on TV. A shame it couldn't continue because of funding...I sent the prez of HBO a nasty letter when it was cancelled.
